Unit 9 evaluation

1. The tasks i was given was to take photo's for three different purposes. the first were for nature and decay, i chose nature as i enjoy taking images of wildlife, we had too take 20 different images of the subject and then upload it on to our computers and choose the ones we liked the most and edit them on photoshop, we then had to upload the ones we did well on and put them on to our bloggers and analyise them, also putting on the original version of the image and a print screen of our work on photoshop explaining how we edited them and why.
the second task i was given was for the school brochure, we had to make a front and back cover which would interest people in to reading the brochure to find out more about the school. i went around the school and took various photo's, all together i took about 40. After taking them i put them on to my computer, chose the ones i liked and edited them on photoshop. Then when i ha edited a few i picked the top 4 i wanted and uploaded them on to my blog and explained what i did to edit the image and why i did it in that way, then i uploaded the original image and a print screen to show the before and after effect and to prove i actually edited it that way.
the third task i had was for a magazine of my choice so i chose to use the images i took while i was in paris last year. i uploaded them on to my computer and picked out the decent images i took, i then edited them and chose my best four, after that i uploaded them on my blogger with the original image and a print screen t show the before and after effect once again, i then did a brief explanation on what i did and why i did it like that.

2. With the school brochure i tried to make the lighting on the photo's bright and colorful so it gives you the idea that the school is a bright and welcoming place. in the nature and decay one i tried to make it very colorful so the flowers would stand out and would make the flowers stand out more which would catch peoples attention. The finally for the magazine the images were what i took when i was in paris, so i cropped most of them because most of them were of buildings  and views from different buildings so i wanted to concentrate more on the buildings more than what is around them.

3. i enjoyed taking thew images the most because its something i enjoy doing, especially when i took the images of the different buildings in paris, it was a fun experience. i also enjoyed learning new photoshop skills, being able to edit the images in lots of different ways and mess around with the different effects however i wanted to. after i edited my images i annotated them by putting them on my blog and writing a brief explanation undernath the image explaining in what ways i edited it and why i edited it like that.

4. i least enjoyed doing the annotating the images, because i prefer doing practical like editing the photos or taking them instead of writing and explaining what i have done. compared to the practical things we do throughout this lesson i find writing very boring.

5.i chose my best image which was a image of the arc de triomphe and i compared it to a professional version which i found off an online brochure. i found that the images were very similar but the lighting on my edited image was a bit more brighter than the lighting on the image i got off the brochure. and was also taken from a different angle. i think my images works well as it is very similar to the professional version

6. my least favourite image was the image of the eiffel tower i edited, i found it wasn't a very clear image as it was a bit blurry so that is why i edited it the way i did, compared to the professional version i think my edit  looks very dull and boring. Too improve it for next time i would make the contrast brighter so that it would stand out more and probably make it clearer.

7. I think a good way of helping me improve my skills at editing is by watching professional videos on youtube of how to edit the image, that way i would be able to do more things and improve on my photos which would get me better marks. Also by looking at different images which would give me ideas and what different ways i could edit my photo and might help me out with choosing what to do with a particular image.

8. By improving my skills at editing i asked my friends for help, to see if they had any different ideas or opinions on what i could do with my image/s. I also watched some videos which gave me a few tips on what i can do while editing the image. By using photoshop i think it has helped me and will make me feel more confident using it the next time round.

9. For my photo essay i used my chosen images and uploaded them on to power point and named each image i used, i then imported it in to a video and uploaded it on to my blog. For my school brochure photos i chose the images i edited and liked and them put them into photoshop to create the brochure, the reason why i used photoshop was because i am used to using it so i knew what i was doing. To present my nature and decay images i used flickr, i did this by uploading the images i wanted to use which put it into a powerpoint and then uploading it straight on to my blogger.

10. to get my feedback i used a website called 'freedback'. To do this you have to sign up for the websiste and design the questions you want, i created 8 questions and the feedback i was given will help me with future work.

edited images.

School playground/field

In this edit i managed to put two different photos in to one to make it look more effective. I took a close up image of a school fence and cut out the background image out of it, i then copied and pasted it on to the longshot image of the school field and college and blurred out the fence so it made it look like i focused more on the background. i then edited the colour contrast on the background to a blue colour to make it look cold and i edited the colour contrast on the fence to a red colour to make it look more hot to even the whole image out.
This is the edited version

Cooking class
this is the orignal image which was taken in a school cooking class of year 8's, the camera mode was on auto so it would of edited the images for me. When editing the image i clicked on "image" then "auto contrast" which made the image seem brighter. I wanted it to seem brighter because then it will give the idea that the cooking class is a bright/interesting place to be instead of a dull and boring place to be i took it as a close up image so it made it easier to see what was in the image and going on in the classroom at the time.

Art class
Here is the edited version of my image, to edit it i just used a colour contrast on this because i didn't think it needed that much editing doing too it, also below the edited imaged is the original version so you ca see the before and after effect and there is also a screenshot of my work on photoshop.

Here is a image of the schools student reception and visitor reception with three children that attend the school walking down towards the corridor. I think this is a good image because it shows a view of the whole reception area. when i edited it i once again used just the colour contrast because i didnt think i needed much more editing too it, also i left the canmera on auto so that sorted out most of my lighting for the image.

Here is the original version of the arc de triomphe and the edited version of my image, i first cropped the photo so it gave the building more attention then what was around it, i then changed the contrast slightly just to make it stand out a bit more, i felt that i didnt need much doing to it as it already look okay.

here is my original image of the Arc de triomphe.

here is the edited version

The river seine
here is the edited and original version of the image of the river seine. In this image i edited it by using the colour balance tool, all i did was higher the balance a bit so the photo would be a bit darker, i think it looks better like this than it does in colour.

Notre dame signpost
here is the original image, edited image and the print screen of a image of a sign with "Notre - Dame" written on it. To edit it i added a brightness to the image so it would make the white part on the sign would stand out

Eiffel tower
here is the edited version and original version of the Eiffel tower. when editing it i used the colour balance to make it darker, i thought it looked better like this because the original image isn't very clear and looks a bit dull, so i made it darker so it would stand out more.

View of the city
Here is the original image and edited image of the city of Paris, all i did to this image was edit the contrast on it, i did this because i thought it made the place look sunnier then what it was, and made the atmosphere look better.

Berry tree
Here is the edited and original versions of a berry tree i took while doing my nature images. All i used was hue saturation because i thought it made the berries stand out more.

Bush
Here is the original and edited version of a bush i also i also used the hue saturation because i felt it made the lighter bit of the leaves stand out more.

Flower
here is the original version and the edited version of a fake flower that i found in a flower shop while doing my nature course. while editing it i used the colour balance because i felt the image was already colourful enough and didn't need that much editing doing too it.

F

Flower

here is the edited version and the original of a flower i took in the flower shop. i felt that changing the image into black and white made it look better as it stands out more then the original version.
